I have eaten in many of the Gaucho locations but this location is by far the best location I have dined in. The food is outstanding in all locations by the way but the decor, bar area, outdoor space, jazz (on Sunday) really provide that little something extra. We had friends visiting from North Carolina, US, who I would not typically take to a UK Steak house - unless it's a Gaucho. They absolutely loved it. The Gaucho team were friendly, professional and thoughtful throughout.

Just when you think a revered institution like afternoon tea can go no further, somebody invents a new take on it. The latest comes from the steak restaurant , which has just introduced the Argentine Afternoon Tea Menu at £30 per person. It’s served on the outdoor terrace (heaters and blankets provided) so you can forget the cow-hide interior decor as you enjoy the delicate offerings. The menu does cater for traditionalists with the likes of smoked salmon, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, and scones, jam and cream but it’s the native offerings which surprise. Savories of an Argentine beef sandwich of choripán with chipotle chutney and sweet pepper, and brioche topped with tenderloin carpaccio and spicy chimichurri sauce; sweet dishes like rich Argentine chocolate cake, lime jelly, mango chutney with passion fruit meringue, and dulce de leche cheesecake are what makes the Gaucho afternoon tea different.

    I’m going to sound spoilt whichever way I write this. If I’m honest, it was just another invitation somewhere lovely to eat something delicious. I didn’t read the invitation closely enough and – for some odd reason – thought I was going somewhere else. But it must happen a lot as Gaucho Afternoon Tea could easily have sounded like tea at the Groucho Club.
